Q. What is a Content Management System?

A. A content management system, or CMS, is software that allows for the easy management of content. When CMS is used in the context of the Internet or web it is a web application designed to manage a website and possibly other Internet marketing. Normally a web content management system is designed to suit a certain kind of market e.g community website, healthcare etc...

A. Unlike most other CMS packages the Living CMS was designed for business use. Q. How long does it take Absolute Tech to take a design and turn it into a template for Living CMS?

A. The time it takes to build a template will vary depending on the complexity of the design. Most templates can be built within a day including testing. Before we start such work we always provide a quote so there are no unexpected costs.

Q. Why does Absolute Tech license the Living Content Management System?

A. We have decided it made a lot more sense to license the Living Content Management System.

Firstly it lowers the initial costs for users. Lower costs means lower risk. Secondly we are all trained by today's business environment to pay monthly. Electricity, Internet, our cellular phone bills etc. By following this model many more users are able to receive the benefits that would otherwise be outside their comfortable spending limit. We feel every business no matter how small needs access to this powerful software package.

Q. Is there a minimum contract period with the Living CMS DNA or Enterprise packages?

A. Yes the standard contract term is set at 24 months. This is only non-binding where a lifetime license is purchased.

Q. What does it cost?

A. Not every one needs are the same so there is a tiered licensing model. Three packages are available but if a client needs something beyond these we also do custom packages.

DNA - $29.95 per month

Enterprise Lite - $39.95 per month

Enterprise - $49.95 per month

Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.

Q. What are the payment options for these packages?

A. Each package can be paid for monthly, quarterly or yearly. You can pay via direct deposit, cheque or credit card. Monthly payments must be made in advance with credit card being the prefered payment option. Invoices are emailed out. Absolute Tech believes strongly in not wasting paper.

Q. How often are backups made?

A. Every 24 hours a full backup is done. It is recommended that clients make their own backups also. The backups taken by Absolute Tech are for our own benefit. If you accidentally delete parts of your site and need content recovered there is a standard $180 fee. Therefore it is wise for end users to do backups whenever changes are made to their site.

Q. Do the Absolute Hosting servers run Linux?

A. No, they run FreeBSD. FreeBSD® is an advanced operating derived from BSD or Berkeley Standard Distribution, the version of UNIX® developed at the University of California, Berkeley.

FreeBSD is well suited to the task of a web hosting server. FreeBSD offers advanced networking, performance, security and compatibility features today which are still missing in other operating systems, even some of the best commercial ones

A. The control panel installed in SysCP. By using an open source ( GPL ) hosting control panel we are able to lower our total over all costs which we then pass on to our clients.
